STORM SHELTER BRINGS PEACE OF MIND
By Merry Hardy
When I installed my own storm shelter in 2009, the biggest sense of relief washed through me. I had no idea how much fear and anxiety I was carrying, or how very grateful I would be in only a matter of months that I had installed a storm shelter in my own backyard.
I could give you statistics about the many levels of the devastating effects of an F-5 tornado or any tornado for that matter. Sadly, there is no need we are all too familiar with those statistics in our state.
Nevertheless, with the awareness we all now have with this level of devastation comes a deep desire to get to the other side of fear and anxiety. I know this desire well. I have heard it from thousands of people all across our state.
My business, Lake Martin Storm Shelters gives me time on the frontline every single day with people who are taking action to protect the ones they love and with the simple act of making a plan and creating a safe place for their families. People from every socioeconomic level are now experiencing great relief and peace of mind.
With every install, I hear stories of courage and survival, faith and re-building, and the desire to feel safe and to become whole again. After each installation customers seem to repeat the exact same expression “I’m so glad I invested in my shelter, I hope I never have to use it, but if I do, I’ll be grateful to have it.”
Customers tell me our crew does a top-notch job with the installation, and I know we deliver fantastic products, but my passion lies in knowing that we bring these people something worth far more than the dollars in the investment of a shelter. People tell me with words and I see it in their eyes, that I am bringing them peace of mind, a safe place for their family right in their own backyard, in beautiful Alabama.
